Double Duty:
As the only president elected to two nonconsecutive terms, Grover Cleveland was both the 22nd and the 24th president. He was also the only president to be married in the White House and the first to have a child born there. This greatly respected president was the first democrat elected since the Civil War. He restored a sense of honor to government and continued the reform policies of those who came before him. In 1888, he won the popular vote, but lost to Benjamin Harrison in the Electoral College. When he was elected again in 1892, the country faced a severe economic depression, the Panic of 1893.
